David McNarry & the Parades Commission

David McNarry & the Parades Commission

McNarry fails to provide answer – 9th December 2005

FURTHER to the mention of me in the Morning Edition of the Belfast Telegraph (December 5) I would like to make clear that David  NcNarry (pictured) walked out of the BBC’s Seven Days programme after I asked him to clarify the Sunday Times report of January 30, 2000, which claimed that he had applied for and was interviewed for the post of Chairman of the Parades Commission.

Neither then nor since has Mr McNarry denied such a claim. The Belfast Telegraph report points out that he denied that he applied for membership of the commission – not for the post of Chairman which is a separate appointment.

Further to the letter of David McNarry (Writeback 16 December).
Mr McNarry has failed to specifically clarify whether or not he applied for and was interviewed for the post of Chairman of the Parades Commission in the previous competition in 1999/2000, as claimed in the Sunday Times of January 30, 2000!
